Sarah Poythress, AGPCNP-BC

Sarah is an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner who practices an integrative, patient-centered approach to care. She focuses on identifying underlying contributors to illness while combining evidence-based Western medicine with holistic, whole-body principles. She has pursued additional training in functional medicine through ongoing coursework toward certification, further strengthening this approach to health and healing.

Her role within the practice was created to improve coordination between naturopathic and conventional medical care. Patients often receive treatment recommendations from naturopathic providers that are not fully integrated into their Western medical care, which can create gaps in implementation. Sarah helps bridge those gaps by improving communication between providers and supporting alignment across care plans.

The goal is to provide a clinician fluent in both naturopathic and evidence-based Western medical frameworks, recognizing that many patients benefit from an integrated model. This includes the appropriate use of medications when indicated, alongside supplements, lifestyle, preventive, and systems-based interventions, with an emphasis on coordinated, team-based care.

She provides care for both common primary care concerns and complex chronic conditions, with an emphasis on prevention and root-cause evaluation. Her clinical interests include women’s health, hormone therapy, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, allergies and hypersensitivities, hypermobility disorders, gut health, and preventive care.

Sarah graduated from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2017 as a Nurse Practitioner and from the University of Connecticut in 2005 as a Registered Nurse. Her clinical background includes primary care for complex patients in assisted living, long-term care, and acute care in skilled nursing settings, as well as experience in intensive care, trauma, burn care, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and radiology.

Outside of the clinic, Sarah enjoys yoga, mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, and attending comedy shows, live music, and theater—activities that support her own sense of balance and well-being.
