CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on technique intended to release tension in the body to relieve physical and emotional pain, stress, and discomfort and to improve your body’s overall health and performance.
CST is based on the physiological principle that the flow of cerebrospinal fluid within the body is important to health, and that the brain and spinal cord are influenced by the craniosacral system – a network of tissues and fluids that protect and support the central nervous system. By using a soft touch, restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system can be released. These restrictions build up with the daily stresses and strains your body endures. They cause the craniosacral system to tighten and become distorted, which then prevents your central nervous system from functioning optimally.
Many patients find that CST facilitates the release of strong emotional and traumatic memories that are often stored in the body's connective tissues at the time of an event. The release of these negative emotions and related physical restrictions can lead to reduced physical pain and discomfort, allowing significant physical and emotional healing. CST can be effective for depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as for a wide variety of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
Dr. Drozda is an experienced provider of CST and has undergone advanced training in its use. During your visit, she can detect, evaluate, and address restrictions by gentle touch to various locations of the body. After testing for ease of motion and the rhythm of cerebrospinal fluid, she works to release any restrictions with a soft touch.
